I've always longed to capture beauty... in poetry and from an holistic personal perspective and gestalt. I'm happy and comfortable with any and all of those endeavors. In stones I see the sea, or a berry, or the mocking of a green mountain maple in its autumn turnings. The warmth of copper and bite of sterling in my hands sooths and wakens me and keeps my distractible mind in fewer places...when it needs to be. I rotate my media to suit my moods and stages of life. Pottery is my first love ~ mud pies and chemistry!! However, for now, wire and stones allow me freedom, much more freedom than hauling around a pottery wheel and watching kilns as I have in the past, and much less mess. I also enjoy bricolage, pysanky using my own natural dyes, watercolors, papermaking with plants and flowers from my gardens, and transforming the gifts of nature into delights for open eyes, yours and mine. In another life I currently tutor and coach gifted kids and adults with learning disabilities and lecture in a planetarium's visual arena. Sometimes, it's the same life, as I bring art into the mix with math and science. In that, I see no lines that aren't worth crossing nor any that don't beg to be crossed. |
